Acer Iconia W3 Tablet Hits in the Indian Market for Rs. 30, 499

Acer Iconia W3 Tablet working on Windows 8 platform hits the Indian market at a price of Rs.30, 499 (About $379). The tablet was officially announced on June 3rd at Computex Taipei, the International Information Technology Expo.


                                                  The tablet is 11.35 mm thick and weighs 540 grams. The tablet is available in 2 vibrant colors black and white. When compared to Asus Nexus and Apple iPad mini, Acer Iconia W3 is little heavier and the others are slimmer than this.
The new tablet is powered by the Intel Atom Z2760 processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz along with the Intel HD Graphics. It is provided with a 2 GB RAM and comes with an internal storage memory of 32 GB, which can be further expanded up to 64 GB using a micro SD card.
                                                        The Acer Iconia tablet is provided with an 8.1 inch LED Back-light LCD capacitive touch screen rendering a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The tablet also support ten-point multi touch feature with auto image rotation capability thus improving the user experience.
-->A 2.0 MP rear camera with LED flash is provided along with the 2.0 MP front facing camera. Another drawback is that no HD video recording is possible.
When checking in the connectivity features, it comes with Bluetooth v.4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, micro USB port, micro HDMI port, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and it also supports the Acer Instant connect for faster wireless internet connectivity. It lacks the Thunderbolt port and USB 3.0 seen on the previous versions of the Acer tablets.
As previously said, it uses the Windows 8 operating system and a copy of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 is available for free with this tablet. An easily integrated Bluetooth keyboard is also launched along with the tablet. It enables the user to dock the tablet into the keyboard, thus obtaining a similar desktop experience. The Keyboard is expected to be available at a price of $90.

The tablet uses 33-Wh standard Li-Polymer battery and Acer claims that a battery back-up of 8 hours is obtained, even under continuous usage.

Lets Compare
When compared to its rivals Asus Nexus and Apple iPad mini, the tablet is heavier and it comes with a poor camera and connectivity features, also it is expensive too. The advantages we found are, the tablet uses the Windows 8 O.S, which can be upgraded to the upcoming Windows 8.1. Upgrading improves the user experience along with some additional features. Also the user gets a copy of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 absolutely free.
