Family vacation in Chicago

Chicago is endowed with some of the finest vacationing spots in the world. It is safe to say that it is a family friendly destination compared to other very popular spots. You do not have to worry about your little, innocent kids being treated to age inappropriate scenes while you are in Chicago- at least for most of the region. Chicago, the third-largest city in the United States, is a energetic metropolitan area home of the blues and jazz and heart of comedy.

Pass by the museums 

Chicago hosts a set of cultural institutions and museums that stand out among the best- if not the best in the world. In the Near South, you will find three of the most magnificent museums for different subjects. If you are particularly fond of astronomic museums, the Adler Planetarium is the place to visit. It has some of the finest space exhibits and astronomy shows that any avid science fan will love and is very popular among teenagers. The Shedd Aquarium hosts a wide array of marine life that you will find anywhere in the region. This mega size aquarium has virtually everything from whales to sharks and dolphins. The most magnificent museum is to be found in Hyde Park- the Museum of Science and Industry. There are innumerable museums in Chicago and each has something great to offer. They include:

Visit the beaches 

There is no one who does not enjoy swimming in clean water- unless of course hydrophobic people. Hydrophobic or not, the Lake Michigan shore is a must visit when you are in Chicago. The five Great Lakes provide a great facility for a truly memorable swimming experience. The Chicago shore is among the cleanest waterfronts in the world. Anyone is permitted to go swimming at any time. However, the best time for this activity is during summer and early fall. The waters are usually warm enough for a good swim and a refreshing bask in the sun. 

Lincoln Park Zoo 

The Lincoln Park zoo is probably the largest free zoo that you will find in the United States. This is a truly remarkable place for a family vacation. If you leave Chicago without having visited the Lincoln Park zoo, just know that you have not experienced the ultimate fun Chicago has to offer. When you visit, make certain not to miss the ape house and the African exhibit. There are other parks that you will find most convenient to visit:

-Midway Park most notable for skating facilities

-Grant Park plays host to music festivals all year through

-Jackson Park and Washington Park- very popular among sports lovers 

Getting around Chicago is pretty easy. The public transport system is very convenient and efficient. However, for a family vacation, renting a car is a good idea. There is nothing more fun than traveling around with your family- perfect bonding time. Simply apply for a ukdriving licence when you get there and you will be good to go.
